Umber
Terrier at Butterley
Whilst enthusiasts in the south enjoyed
the varied sights and sounds of the Colonel Stephens Gala
over the early May Bank Holiday Weekend, up north, at the
Midland Railway Centre, Marsh-Umbered Terrier No.662 “Martello” was
continuing its peripatetic career away from Bressingham and
wowing the crowds on their Vintage Train.
TTT is very grateful to member Ralph Tilley for the images
received, taken on May 5th and May 7th, especially the slightly
incongruous sight of the 500-gallon tanks being filled by a
rather small hose; an enterprise that took in excess of forty-five
minutes!
“Martello” is next scheduled
to be back on home plate (Southern territory) in a few weeks
time when it returns to the Spa Valley Railway at Tunbridge
Wells for an extended stay through most of June and July.
