Trials and Tribulations
Firstly an appeal. If you were involved with the photographic
charter involving 32678 earlier in July, can you please get
in touch with a some details and possibly a few pictures for
the website. Please email to terrier78@freeUK.com
Secondly,
the Terrier Trust would like to express their most sincere thanks
to Mr. Ralph Tilley who has recently sent us a huge number of
digital images of 32678 on the North York Moors Railway taken
in 2003. The weather over that weekend was early autumn at its
very best, hence the quantity! We will be creating bespoke folders
for both days as time permits. Ralph previously sent us plenty
of scenes from Knowle’s successful return to
the West Somerset in 2004 and these already feature in our gallery.
Lastly,
32678 had been laid up just recently requiring attention to
its front end thanks to a hot axle box. Not what the engineers
need at Rolvenden for the start of daily running with the Vintage
train due out every day. However, problems have been compounded
by the failure of No.23’s firebox, tyre problems for No.25
and constraints on the use of the Pannier. Difficulties never
come alone for both Wainwright and Norwegian
are due to be withdrawn around the end of the year, none of
which exactly helps with the completion of Bodiam.
Good
news elsewhere is that Martello is due to steam very
shortly at Bressingham and that the Lambton tank is apparently
back on the NYMR after attention to its tyres. K&ESR is
owed a visit from this engine in exchange for the aforementioned
visit of 32678 to the Moors in October 2003.
