Pictures
Slowly Revealing Secrets
Thanks in part to the recent donation
of a set of the three books published on LB&SCR Locomotives
by the RCTS over thirty years ago and written by the late D
L Bradley, the pictures recently presented to the Trust by
Mr Bernard Harris are slowly revealing their secrets
It appears that many of the scenes were
taken by the late Walter Bennett of Hove who apparently reproduced
them as postcards. Preliminary
indications are that some, if not all of the originals of his
work passed into the late John L Smith/Lens of Sutton Collection
though better copies of some of the pictures have been credited
to other society and private collections. The pictures
were purchased at auction in 1969 and may have been valued by
the esteemed author C Hamilton Ellis
Obviously if anyone having rights to the
originals protests about these pictures being on TTT website,
they will be removed but in the first instance they are presented
here for educational purposes only and to request assistance
for identification principally of location. Even if previously
published, corroboration of detail would be appreciated
The date of most appears to roughly encompass the Edwardian
years
