WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THE TERRIER TRUST
Marketing Initiative

An unusual marketing initiative is to be tried out on the K&ESR on Sunday April 11th

In the routine course of events, the standard green timetable would normally provide the passenger fare at weekends in April.  But thanks to the co-operation of General Manager Graham Baldwin and other staff on the railway, it was agreed last year to run the red timetable with the Vintage train on this date, facilitated by a sponsorship from your scribe, who also has the misfortune to mark his half century on that date

Terrier 32678 (“Knowle”) is the requested and preferred choice of motive power, with No.3 “Bodiam” as first reserve.  It has also been planned, with the usual caveats, to run a short BR-style freight train from Wittersham Road to Tenterden Town in the morning and back in late afternoon as an additional feature.

“Knowle” has been requested because she marks her 130th anniversary in mid-summer, and first came to the K&ESR in February 1940.

It is hoped that the freight will add a little extra interest and motivate people to visit and travel on the railway, particularly if blessed with warm spring sunshine – which we are still waiting for at the end of March!

In “exchange” for this initiative, donations of £10 are being sought by The Terrier Trust to help offset the cost of the new chimney for “Bodiam”.  Alternatively, or additionally, £10 is requested for contribution to the Cavell Van Appeal
