Status
of Locomotives - November 2006
K&ESR Engineering Manager Paul Wilson
has very kindly proved the Trust with a resume of the condition
of our two locomotives.
Bodiam
Problems have continued
to sideline the engine. As readers will be aware, the engine
failed to make Bluebell’s Terrier/Brighton
Gala earlier in the month. Much during of the proverbial “midnight
oil” rectified the fault with the Driver’s side (nearside)
big end, small end and piston; however at the last moment a cracked
cylinder cover was discovered.
The original will be given to the pattern maker so a new one
can be cast. To save on costs this will be universal rather than
for a specific side, although some machining will be needed to
fit.
Hopefully this will enable No.3 to have some test runs in the
New Year; what odds on a spring sunshine scene of the loco on
the vintage train? |
