Of the ten preserved Terriers, Only “Boxhill” has never worked on the K&ESR and like 32678 she was turned out of Brighton Works in July 1880.

This locomotive, whilst in fine external condition, seems poorly displayed in its current location in the National Railway Museum, which makes one grateful one can get up close and personal with “Gazelle” at Tenterden Town, rather than lost amid the other, much higher profile, exhibits at York. Thanks are extended for the fruits of yet another of John Wickham's jaunts; a glimpse in the cab, whilst bereft of gauges bar one, reminds us of the practice of essentially having one driver to each engine. Note Thomas Hatcher’s name painted in the cab.
